Last Friday, about 2,000 years ago, Jesus died. Death threw its head back and laughed.
The Savior of the world had fallen… Did hope for mankind die on that tree?
No! Our hope did not die! Jesus rose again, three days later, and conquered death & sin!!!
Jesus paid it all for us! We’re free, the Father has called us back, we’ve been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb – who saw our sin (yes, the sins we would commit 2,000 years later) and decided to die for us! Isn’t the awesome?
But… Why does it matter? Why couldn’t God just forgive us of all our sins without sacrificing His one and only Son?
Is God not powerful enough?!
Why Did Christ Jesus Do It?
So, why did Jesus do it? Why would he die for us? Why would He come down to earth and die for humans that disobeyed – and continue to disobey – God all the time?
Well, the punishment for sin is death (Romans 6:23). That means if you sin, you’ve blown your only chance to be with God.
Jesus paid the price – the price we should have paid – for us. Suffering & dying at the hands of the people He came to save.
Christ Jesus Died – Was He Not Powerful Enough To Save Himself?
So… Jesus died at the hands of the humans He came to save… Was He not powerful enough to save Himself from death on a cross?
To say it simple: “No!” Although Jesus could have called down legions of legions of angels to smite anyone & everyone, He didn’t.
Again, if Jesus didn’t die, then we would not be able to go to the throne of the Almighty Father.
So what do you think? Jesus looked at us, who happen to sin and break God’s laws all the time, and decided He would come into the courtroom and take our punishment instead.
Why Couldn’t Anyone Else Die For Us?
Jesus is the unblemished Lamb. Only someone who has never ever sinned before could take the punishment for the rest of mankind.
As we know, all people sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
However, all people are born in sin (Psalm 51:5), so not ever sinning does not mean your clean – not like that possible anyways.
Although it may seem unfair that we are born in sin and can’t be with God without a Savior, Romans 5:12 says that sin entered through Adam (and a remedy through Jesus Christ). Adam & Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, their traits are passed down to us – all men are unclean.
God Loves… What’s Your Response?
So… God made the first move – by loving us, sending His one and only Son, for protecting us, for… (better not continue, once I get started it’s hard to stop). What’s your response?
How are you going to respond to the God that just shows love? Unadulterated, pure, hard love? At the end of the day, the choice is up to you. Today, if you feel distanced from God. If you feel that you are undeserving of forgiveness. Then Jesus is the right answer for you. Jesus gave us this wonderful prayer that we can learn from.
9“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
This song is really encouraging when you’re hurting in life, play it and pray to the Lord Jesus Christ and you will hear from Him – God loves, you accept. All who call upon our Lord Jesus Christ will be saved!
Jesus died for our sins! He paid the ultimate price…. for us. Never forget that. Regardless of what happens in your life, there is a God that cares and loves for you. Remember! God loves you, and he made you very special.
